At this year’s conference, inJazz (Rotterdam – NL) introduced – in cooperation with the Bremen (DE) based label Berthold records – the Elevator Jazz Pitch.

Only 10 were the finalists, and I’m glad to say that my presentation about my coming Interactive music-theatre piece (LULELA) won the inJazz inCentive of €1.000,-.

Jazz Composition and Arranging – Gabriele di Franco e Francesco Negro

Domenica 3 febbraio alle ore 15:30 partirà il nuovo Corso di Composizione Jazz presso l’Associazione Culturale Jazz Bud Powell di Maglie a cura di Gabriele di Franco e Francesco Negro.
Il corso prevede più di 30 ore di lezione in cui saranno affrontati i seguenti argomenti:

Armonia;
Analisi;
Strumentazione e orchestrazione;
Composizione

L’obiettivo del corso è quello di imparare le tecniche di orchestrazione, composizione ed arrangiamento di base per poter scrivere musica per vari organici.

Le lezioni si struttureranno secondo il seguente calendario nella fascia oraria 15:30 – 18:30:

Febbraio: 3, 17
Marzo: 17, 31
Aprile: 14, 28
Maggio: 12, 26
Giugno: 9, 23
Luglio: 14

Per poter partecipare al corso bisogna avere i seguenti requisiti:

Conoscenza delle scale maggiori, minori e i modi;
Saper armonizzare le scale maggiori e minori;
Conoscenza degli intervalli semplici e composti;
Conoscenza di un software di scrittura musicale (Musescore, Sibelius, Finale…)

L’Associazione Culturale Jazz Bud Powell di Maglie apre le iscrizioni per la Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra (BPJO) diretta da Gabriele di Franco.

Tutti i musicisti che suonano uno strumento sono invitati a prendere parte a questa magnifica esperienza che in questi anni si è consolidata grazie a grandi sforzi. Per chi volesse avere una testimonianza di ciò che siamo riusciti a realizzare basta ascoltare “Dedalo” l’ultimo disco della Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra prodotto dall’Associazione Culturale Jazz Bud Powell.

The Cultural Association Jazz Bud Powell of Maglie opens the inscriptions for the Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra (BPJO) conducted by Gabriele di Franco.

All musicians who play an instrument are invited to take part in this magnificent experience that has been consolidated over the years thanks to great efforts. For those who would like to have a testimony of what we have achieved, just listen to “Dedalo”, the latest album by the Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra produced by the Cultural Association Jazz Bud Powell.

Nobis Trio

蔡雯慧，一個生於台灣、長於台灣的爵士歌手、作曲/編曲家。在旅居歐洲多年的時間裡不但在比利時擁有三個自己的樂團，並且以solo artist的身份闖蕩歐洲在東歐、西歐與南歐都有許多演出。Gabriele與Marco就是她在義大利一起演出的夥伴。
有別於一般吉他手喜歡在音量與技巧上大作文章，Gabriele喜歡擁抱空間並在節奏上面挑戰樂手; Marco擁有既悠揚又如泣如訴地小號音色 ; 而蔡雯慧則是用最平鋪直敘的方式挑戰觀眾內心最深層的情感。這三個樂手的音樂不盡相同，卻巧妙地互補、融合在一起。

During the Academy I had the pleasure to be coached and to work with Joeri Smet from Ontroerend Goed and Koen Haagdorens for dramaturgy, Joris Blanckaert on composition and Wannes Gonnissen and SPECTRA on music; on my newest project LULELA.

The partners of Bijloke Summer Academy have selected 5 projects from 88 applications coming from all over the world.
The partnership includes LOD music theatre (production house), Music Centre De Bijloke(venue), Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) & Royal Conservatory Ghent, SPECTRA Ensemble (contemporary music ensemble) JazzLab (concert organiser) and International Opera Academy.

I’m glad to announce that I’ve been selected to be part of Bijloke Summer Academy.

The partners of Bijloke Summer Academy have selected 5 projects from 88 applications coming from all over the world.

The partnership includes LOD music theatre (production house), Music Centre De Bijloke(venue), Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) & Royal Conservatory Ghent, SPECTRA Ensemble (contemporary music ensemble) JazzLab (concert organiser) and International Opera Academy.

All partners are involved in the international fields of contemporary music theatre and transmedial performance. Their ways of working within the scene are different yet highly complementary as organisational forces of Bijloke Summer Academy – Music Theatre.

Grazie alla collaborazione con Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, tutti gli studenti del KCB beneficeranno di uno sconto del 20%.

The Maglie Jazz Summer School project is an initiative of the Jazz Cultural Association “Bud Powell” of Maglie.

From August 27 to September 2, 5 participants per instrument, divided into 6 classes (one for each instrument: sax, piano, vocals, guitar, double bass, drums) will take part in the only summer Jazz workshop in Salento.

Thanks to the partnership with Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel all KCB students will benefit of a 20% discount.
